The regular assignment of personnel to participate in mutual recognition peer evaluations under the Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC MRA) framework has become a routine mission, demonstrating the commitment and competence of the Bureau of Accreditation (BoA) as a member of the mutual recognition arrangements. The leadership of BoA consistently prioritizes and facilitates the capacity building of its peer evaluation experts to meet APAC’s requirements.

In line with the assigned training plan, the personnel of the Technical Division 2 participated in the “Nominated Peer Evaluator” training course organized by APAC in Shanghai between February 24 and 25, 2025. The course brought together over 20 peer evaluator candidates from more than 15 accreditation bodies across the Asia-Pacific region, covering fields such as Testing/Calibration/Certification/Proficiency Testing/Reference Material Producer, among others.

The course content focused on conducting APAC peer evaluations in accordance with APAC MRA procedures and related requirements of IAF and ILAC. Under the guidance of experienced APAC trainers, participants were instructed on how to prepare for a peer evaluation, practice communication and behavior skills, deal with real scenarios during assessments, engaged in group discussions on specific cases based on ISO/IEC 17011:2017, and develop interview skills, information exchange, and evidence collection, express opinions in the opening and closing meeting, present findings during witness assessments, and write observation and nonconformity reports.

At the end of the training, participants completed a two-hour examination to demonstrate their understanding of ISO/IEC 17011:2017, APAC MRA procedures, and their ability to handle and resolve hypothetical assessment scenarios.

The training served as an excellent opportunity for nominated peer evaluator candidates in the region to meet in person, exchange expertise in accreditation assessments, foster friendship and international cooperation, and, most importantly, open the path toward future participation in APAC peer evaluation teams.
