A Vietnamese delegation attends the 44th Meeting of the ACCSQ/WG2 on Conformity Assessment
The annual meeting of the Working Group 2 (WG2) on Conformity Assessment under the ASEAN Consultative Committee on Standards and Quality (ACCSQ) took place for three days between May 26 and 28, 2025 in Singapore.
The meeting was attended by representatives from accreditation and conformity assessment bodies of all 10 ASEAN Member States, Timor-Leste as observers, representative from the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) of Germany and the ASEAN Secretariat.
This year, the Vietnamese delegation included representatives from the National Accreditation Bureau and some Departments under the Commission for the Standards, Metrology and Quality of Viet Nam.

The ACCSQ/Working Group 2 (WG2) has continuously made efforts to harmonize regulations and practices among Member States to expand business opportunities by developing of the ASEAN Guidelines on Accreditation and Conformity Assessment, enhancing the capacity for accreditation and conformity assessment in ASEAN, thereby improving infrastructure quality, harmonizing infrastructure in ASEAN, and facilitating free trade among ASEAN Member State.
The meeting identified relevant conformity assessment standards that could be harmonized and subsequently submitted to Working Group 1 (WG1). Regarding greenhouse gas (GHG) standards, out of a total of six standards, two have been harmonized, and the remaining four were declared to be partially harmonized.
The meeting also reached a consensus on the sharing of assessors among ASEAN Member States' accreditation bodies. It was agreed that each accreditation body would provide a list of detailed information on the competency of each assessor.
The meeting highly appreciated and acknowledged the efforts of the National Accreditation Bureau (BoA) in enhancing its position and role as Vietnam’s national accreditation body. BoA also serves as Vietnam’s representative in cooperation with regional and international accreditation bodies. At the meeting, BoA reported on its status, activities and accreditation figures, and proposed a PTB-supported project to strengthen Vietnam’s competency in assessing new accreditation schemes such as ISMS, PTP, and RMP. The proposal also included training on the application of AI in the assessment process and digital accreditation record management.
Vietnam reaffirmed its commitment to complying with the rules of the Working Group and expressed its readiness to support ASEAN Member States, such as Laos and Cambodia, in their accreditation and assessment activities.

Participation in the annual ACCSQ/WG2 meetings provides Vietnam with an important opportunity to reaffirm its active role in the regional integration process in the fields of conformity assessment and accreditation. It also demonstrates Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening its efforts toward fulfilling the goal of becoming one of the three fundamental pillars of the national quality infrastructure: standards, metrology, conformity assessment and accreditation.
